ROMAN. Gold finger ring. Circa 3rd-4th century AD. Inner diameter 22mm, total weight 9.18 g. An ornate filigree gold band of rouletted wire in heart-shaped volutes, tied with a Hercules knot at the base, the thick bezel with a surrounding double band of rouletting, applied beads and two flanking globules. The inset gemstone is a bright orange garnet of high quality, engraved with an eagle perched upon a low altar. Choice condition, stone and ring of finest quality.
