ROMAN. Bronze fibula. Circa 2nd-3rd century AD. Length 42mm. Bronze cloak pin in the shape of a gladiator. The bow in the schematic representation of a helmeted man, holding a short sword across a large rectangular shield. Intact and functional, green patina clean in part down to original tinned surfaces. Intriguing souvenir of the arena games.
