ROMAN. Bronze fibula. Circa 3rd-4th century AD. Length 50mm. Bronze cloak pin of the P-shape type, with flat bow curving into a volute on the crossbar. The plate is engraved VTERE FELIX-”Be Lucky”. Small tang at foot of the bow, plain crossbar. Cf. Hattatt p. 283. This fibula appears to have been repaired in antiquity, with a crudely fashioned catch plate riveted to the bow, partially obscuring the inscription. Otherwise intact, with rough green and brown patina.
