ROMAN. Bronze fibula. Circa 350-380 AD. Length 75mm. Bronze cloak pin of the crossbow type, with punched decoration on the foot, engraving on the bow and three knobs on the crossbar. Crossbar decorated with arched cut-outs, and the stem of the knobs ringed with a different alloy metal, more brassy. Cf. Hattatt fig. 89 (Keller Type 4). Intact with complete functional pin, wonderful even dark green patina, with the added rings being a slightly contrasting jade green.
