ROMAN. North Africa. Pottery oil lamp. Circa 2nd century AD. Length 11.5cm. Mold-formed with central motif of Zeus standing left, holding thunderbolt over altar, framed in laurel. Circular impressed mark in the field- a potter’s mark? Fill hole on discus, tiny vent hole on edge, ring handle. Gray-brown colored clay with dark brown slip. Good condition, handle chipped.
