[Oil lamps] ROMAN. Syria-Palestine. Pottery oil lamp. 3rd-4th century AD. “Samaritan” type. Length 8cm. Mold-formed with grape vine around large open discus, equal-armed cross with pellets on slightly spatulate nozzle. Nub handle. Pinkish-red colored clay, a bit under fired, hence yellow in spots. Choice condition, some calcium deposit. Rare early Christian motif.
