ITALY. Redware pottery Guttus. Circa 5th century BC. Diameter of body 10.5cm, height to top of handle 9cm. Squat ovoid body, central discus with strainer holes, high ring handle and long pouring spout. Dull black slip over red clay, decorated with four groups of three scratched lines. Copies the earlier black bucchero ware of the Etruscans. Choice condition, slight calcium deposits.
