ROMAN. Bronze protome of Pan. Circa 1st-2nd century AD. Height, 34mm. A high relief (16mm from base) facing portrait of the sylvan good Pan as a young man with pointed faun ears and stubby horns on his forehead. Hollow cast with chased details. An expressive depiction of Pan, highlighted by a smooth blue-green patina. The tip of the nose slightly flattened, some encrustation, otherwise in perfect condition.
