[Bronze objects] ROMAN. Bronze statuette of Aphrodite. Circa 1st-2nd century AD. Height 145mm. A solid cast figurine of Aphrodite, after the 4th century BC Greek original. Aphrodite stands fresh from her bath, nude, controposto with her right knee forward, while wringing out her wet braids. Her facial expression somewhat vacant, but the body beautifully modeled. A well preserved specimen of a popular Roman bronze statuette. Cf. Collection Dutuit, 28. Variegated green patina, worn down to red in spots, a few areas of heavier corrosion, especially the left foot.
