ROMAN. Bronze strigil. Circa 1st-2nd century AD. Length 29.5cm. A bronze strigil or scraper, used in athletics and the baths to remove sweat and oil prior to bathing. Handle folded over to form hollow oblong, the shoulder decorated with incised decoration of a fish and double spirals. Good condition, dark green patina, small crack.
