[Bronze objects]
ROMAN. Bronze bucranium. Circa 1st-2nd century AD. Height to tip of horns 12.5cm. Cast and chased figure of a bull’s skull, with dedicatory wreath would around the curved horns. Deep-set eye sockets probably once inlaid. There were two points of attachment on the back, at the base of the horns. Difficult to determine what this was originally a part of; it may have been something as simple as a doorknocker. Choice condition, olive green patina with patches of red-brown and lighter green color.
