ARABIA, Uncertain. Circa 3rd-2nd centuries BC. AR Tetradrachm (26mm, 15.72 g). Head of Herakles right, wearing lion’s skin headdress / Apollo seated left on omphalos, testing arrow and resting hand on bow; zigzag “legend” behind. See Gemini I, lot 259; cf. Potts, Supp. 8-10 (obols). VF, surfaces corroded.
This crude coin combines Alexandrine and Seleukid prototypes, while the legend is merely an iteration of the
S signed Arabian tetradrachms and drachms.
