KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’. 336-323 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.48 g, 9h). Mint in Failaka/Ikaros. Struck circa 240-200 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; AP monogram in left field, KL in exergue. Cf. Price 3957 (Gerrha; same obv. die as plate coin); cf. Arnold-Biucchi, Arabian, Group B. VF, lightly toned, a few light cleaning marks. Unique and unpublished.



By virtue of the obverse die link, this coin was minted at the same location of the Price 3957 tetradrachms, which fall into Arnold-Biucci’s Group B, from a mint in Failaka/Ikaros.
