KINGS of MACEDON. Demetrios I Poliorketes. 306-283 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.23 g, 6h). Amphipolis mint. Struck circa 289-288 BC. Diademed and horned head right / Poseidon standing left, foot on rock, holding trident; monogram to outer left and right. Newell 124 (obv. die CXVIII). Near EF.

The obverse die CXVIII apparently was re-engraved at some point, resulting in a slightly different appearance in the coin photographed as Newell pl. XIII, 1. The following lot was also struck from this same die.
