KINGS of MACEDON. Demetrios I Poliorketes. 306-283 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.17 g, 10h). Demetrias mint. Struck circa 290-289 BC. Diademed and horned head right with elderly features / Poseidon standing left, foot on rock, holding trident; no control marks. Cf. Newell 144 (for obv. die style). EF, die shift on reverse.
While Newell 92 and 148 are issues without monograms or symbols, as the present piece, the style is most similar to a number of issues at Demetrias. For another example, see CNG 72, lot 490.
