SELEUKID KINGS of SYRIA. Seleukos I Nikator. 312-281 BC. AV Stater (8.60 g, 6h). Seleukeia on the Tigris mint, first workshop. Struck circa 300-281 BC. Helmeted head of Athena right; griffin on helmet / Nike standing left, holding wreath and stylis; monogram below right wing. SC 115.2; Houghton 939 (this coin). EF, a few minor spots of encrustation, slightly weak strike in center of obverse. Exceptionally detailed reverse. Very rare.
