Sextus Pompey. 40-39 BC. AR Denarius (3.90 g, 3h). Uncertain Sicilian mint, possibly Catana. Bare head of Pompey the Great right; jug behind, lituus before / Neptune standing left, holding aplustre, resting foot on prow, between the brothers Anapias and Amphinomus, carrying their parents on their shoulders. Crawford 511/3a; CRI 334; Sydenham 1344; RSC 17 (Pompey the Great). VF, old gray cabinet toning, banker’s mark on neck, struck slightly off center.
