HANOVER. Princess Anne. Princess Royal and Princess of Orange, 1709-1759. AR Medal (40mm, 23.18 g, 12h). J.G. Holtzhey, engraver. The Death of Anne, Princess of Orange, dated 1759. Anne was the eldest daughter of king George II of England, and wife of Prince William IV of Orange-Nassau. She died at only 49 years of age, in 1759, a year before her father, and was renowned for her promotion of the arts and sciences (hence their personifications are displayed on this commemorative medal).
