[Virzi Collection]
South Italian and Sicilian Bronze Coins. (ND.) 77 original 5x8 photographs, illustrating 2238 coins. No text. Rare record of an important collection. Fine condition, in a Kodak box. The first part of the extensive collection of south Italian and Sicilian coins assembled by Tom Virzi was sold off by Jacob Hirsch is two sales in 1907 and 1910. The bronzes were held in storage for almost 70 years, the better pieces being offered by Leu in 1973 and more by Alex Malloy in 1980. At one point this complete photographic record of the bronze collection was made, and only a few sets were distributed to dealers in Europe.
