Clodius Albinus. As Caesar, AD 193-195. Æ Sestertius (30mm, 16.03 g). Rome mint. Struck AD 194-195. Bare head right / Felicitas standing left, holding caduceus and long sceptre. RIC IV 55. Fine, brown surfaces.
From the Henry Chitwood Collection.
The only other published specimen of this coin is in the British Museum (BMC 538) where it is noted as "Certainly ancient: possibly an ancient forgery". Banti, in his corpus of sestertii, does not include the type. The type is likely an forgery of uncertain vintage. LOT SOLD AS IS, NO RETURNS.
