ISLAMIC DYNASTIES, Zengid Atabegs of Sinjar. Qutb al-Din Muhammad bin Zengi. AH 594-616/AD 1197-1219. Æ Dirham (25mm, 10.56 g, 3h). Sinjar mint. Dated AH 596 (AD 1199/1200). Bare-headed draped, and cuirassed male Roman-style bust left, holding spear or scepter over shoulder and shield; mint name and AH date around / Names and titles of Abbasid Caliph al-Nasir and Qutb al-Din Muhammad bin Zengi in five lines across field; name continued to right and left; Zengid tamgha in exergue. S&S Type 81. VF, brown patina.
