149, Lot: 147. Estimate $300.
Sold for $225. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

BAKTRIA, Greco-Baktrian Kingdom. Pantaleon. Circa 185-180 BC. CU-NI Double Unit (24mm, 7.75 g). Head of Dionysos right, wearing ivy wreath, thyrsos over left shoulder / Panther standing right, left paw raised; monogram to left. Cf. Bopearachchi Série 4. VF, rough reddish-brown patina.

The monogram is obscured by the thick patina, but it appears to be the familiar PK type. This otherwise commonplace monogram is not attested in the coinage of Pantaleon.
