HUNNIC TRIBES. Zabulistan. Uncertain ruler.Circa 720-729. Æ Obol(?) (26mm, 3.03 g). Crowned bust facing slightly right, crown with wings and senmurg; countermark: combined elephant head and camel / Fire altar flanked by attendants; countermark: tamgha. Göbl, DokumenteEm 259; cf. c/ms 12 and 95. Near VF.

The obverse c/m is a cruder rendition of the type 12, but with the animals in reversed position. See lot 197 for the regular countermark of this type. It is uncertain whether the tamgha is separately applied, or is part of a two-sided punch. Probably applied by a Hephthalite tribe.
