149, Lot: 452. Estimate $100.
Sold for $125. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

HANOVER. Lot of two (2) Æ Pistrucci Farthings of George IV. 1821-1830. Æ Farthing. Dated 1825. Obverse with raised leaf-midribs. Peck 1415 // Same. Dated 1826. Peck 1416; both are SCBC 3822. These coins both have low and broken 1s (or Is, as in 1823?) in the dates, and appear to be from at least the same reverse dies. The 6 of the 1826 does not appear to be recut from a 5, however; more likely the 5 and 6 were added seperately to dies from the same hub. The obverse die of the 1826 has been heavily lapped (note the weak drapery), probably to remove clash marks, most of which remain, in front of the neck. The I of FID is broken on the 1826, but not on the 1825. Certainly an interesting pair. The 1826 is the last draped bust of an English king on a copper coin. Both grade EF, with even brown surfaces. LOT SOLD AS IS. NO RETURNS.
