HANOVER. Victoria. 1837-1901. WM Medal (39mm, 18.18g). Death of the Duke of Wellington, 14 September 1852. J. P(ark?), sculptor. Uniformed bust of the Duke of Wellington left, flanked by flags of the victories at Assaye and Waterloo / Uniformed bust of Lord Nelson left. Brown -; Eimer -. VF, light abrasions.

One of the innumerable medals produced after the death of Wellington, with an additional link to the second hero of the Napoleonic wars, Admiral Nelson. The initials J.P. on the bust of Wellington cannot be positively identified, but J. Park was a die-sinker working in Liverpool in the 19th century.
