LUCANIA, Herakleia. Time of Pyrrhos of Epiros. Circa 281-278 BC. AR Drachm (3.81 g, 12h). Head of Athena facing slightly right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet decorated with Skylla throwing a stone; monogram to left / [|-HRAKLEIWN], owl standing right, head facing, on club; ARISTO to left, |-A to left of club, olive branch to right. Van Keuren 118; HN Italy 1415; SNG ANS -; SNG Lloyd -; SNG Delepierre 291. Near EF, beautiful iridescent toning. Well struck on a broad flan.
