SICILY, Syracuse. Dionysios I. 405-367 BC. Æ Drachm (30.61 g, 12h). Struck circa 380 BC. Head of Athena left, wearing Corinthian helmet decorated with laurel wreath / Star between two dolphins; pellet between tails. Boehringer, Finanzpolitik, pl. 39, 45; CNS 66; SNG Morcom -; SNG ANS -; SNG Lloyd -; Laffaille -; Virzi -. Good VF, even dark brown surfaces with patches of dark green, double struck on reverse. Extremely rare variety with pellet.
