KINGS of THRACE. Lysimachos. 305-281 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.13 g, 7h). Ainos mint. Struck under Skostokos, circa 277-260 BC. Diademed head of the deified Alexander right, with horn of Ammon / BASILEWS LUSIMACOU, Athena Nikephoros seated left, left arm resting on shield, spear behind; herm to inner left. Peter p. 218 var.; SNG Copenhagen 1171 var.; SNG Ashmolean 3779 var.; Youroukova 103 var. (all with SKOSTOKOU in exergue). EF, lightly toned, minor die break on obverse. Good metal for issue.



Almost all of the obverse dies used for the SKOSTOKOU-signed tetradrachms were engraved by the same individual who produced the die used for the present coin. It is uncertain whether this coin belongs prior to, later than, or contemporary with the signed issue.
