Cnaeus Pompeius Magnus (Pompey the Great). 45-44 BC. AR Denarius (3.72 g, 4h). Spanish mint. SEX. MAGNVS SAL IMP, bare head left / PIETAS, Pietas standing front, head left, holding branch in right hand, transverse sceptre in left. Crawford 477/2; CRI 233; Sydenham 1043; Kestner -; BMCRR Spain 94; RSC 15. Good VF, lightly toned, traces of die rust on obverse and slight porosity on reverse, scrape on neck and at edge of reverse from 9-10 o’clock. Extremely rare.
