Valentinian III. AD 425-455. AV Semissis (2.17 g, 6h). Ravenna mint. Struck circa AD 440-455. D N PLA VALENTINIANVS P F AVG, pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust right / VICTORI-A AGVSTORVM (sic), Victory seated right on cuirass, supporting on knee and short column a shield inscribed VOT/X/MVLT/XX in four lines; before, a small winged genius standing left, supporting the shield with both hands; COMOB. RIC X 2050 var. (rosette-diadem); Lacam 30; Depeyrot 47/2 (Rome) var. (same); DOCLR 857 (Ravenna) var. (same). EF. Extremely rare type; unrecorded in the standard references with pearl-diadem.
