Alexius I Comnenus. 1081-1118. Æ Tetartemorion (2.75 g, 6h). Thessalonica mint(?). Nimbate half-length facing bust of the Theotokos (not orans); MHP monogram, QV flanking / LLC, crowned half-length facing bust of Alexius, wearing loros, holding labarum in right hand, globus cruciger in left. DOC IV 44; SB 1934 (unpriced, listed as ’Extremely rare’). VF, dark green patina, minor flan flaw at edge. Extremely rare type with the Theotokos not orans.
