SASANIAN KINGS. Bahram II, with Queen and Prince 3. AD 276-293. AR Drachm (4.20 g). Jugate busts right of Bahram, crowned, and his queen, wearing a bonnet with a griffin's head and cuirass, vis-à-vis, facing bust of his son (Prince 3) left, who wears a bonnet with a boar’s head / Fire altar with attendants; fravahr to left of flames. Unpublished. Near VF, toned.

Ex Bellaria Collection (Classical Numismatic Group 66, 19 May 2004), lot 865.

There are no published coins of Prince 3 with the queen wearing anything but a plain bonnet. It is most similar to Göbl IX/2, which has the same headdress for the queen, but is with Prince 4. It is also possible that these are known, but have been mistaken for Prince 4, as the ears of the boar are only apparent on close inspection.
