ARABIA, Bostra? Trajan. AD 98-117. AR Tridrachm (24mm, 10.47 g). Dated Cos. 5 (AD 112-114). Laureate head right / Bundle of six grain ears. SNG ANS -; W.E. Metcalf, "The Tell Kalak Hoard and Trajan's Arabian Mint," ANSMN 20 (1975), 6 var. (drapery on shoulder); Sydenham 220 (Caesarea); Kindler p. 97. VF.

W. Metcalf, on the basis of hoard evidence, rejects the traditional attribution of this coin type to Caesarea in Cappadocia. He suggests the mint of Bostra in Arabia. However, Ari Kindler in his monograph on the coinage of Bostra sees no evidence for it being from Arabia. The piece remains in limbo.
