CHRISTIANVS XIII REX DANIÆ, bare head right / INGENIO ET ARTI, winged Genius standing left, holding lit torch and cloak; to lower left, lyre and pot of scrolls. In PCGS encapsulation 39853089, graded MS 62. A cameo effect.
Rudolf Christian Böttger was a German inorganic chemist primarily active at the University of Frankfurt am Main. Though he initially studied theology, Böttger achieved fame with the discovery of nitrocellulose in 1846.
