Helmeted head of Athena right, with frontal eye; c/m: retrograde Aramaic waw within incuse square / Owl standing right, head facing, closed tail feathers; olive spray and crescent to left; all within incuse square. Van Alfen, Mechanisms, Group III.D or III.E. For prototype: cf. Kroll 8; cf. HGC 4, 1597. Toned, some light scratches. Good VF. Exceptional eastern imitation. |
