JUDAEA, Sebaste. Æ (20mm, 5.19 g). Countermarks applied late 1st century CE. Bust in oval incuse / Galley in rectangular incuse on a Judaea Capta bronze(?). For c/ms: Hendin 6644; Howgego 117; Howgego 410. For host: cf. Hendin 6472-4. Brown patina, roughness. Host Poor; c/ms Fine. Both countermarks are known to be applied at Sebaste but the undertype isn’t clear. |
