Contorniates. Late 4th century AD. Æ Contorniate (35.5mm, 21.09 g, 6h). In the name of Nero. NERO CLAVDIVS [CAESAR AVG] GERM TR P IMP P P, laureate head right; ivy leaf engraved in right field / Emperor on horseback riding right, riding over slain lion to right below. Alföldi, Kontorniat 130 and pl. 62, 1-3 var. (symbol to right). Brown patina, area of old corrosion, scratches. Fine.
