POTTERY. Greek Southern Italian Colonies. c. 4th-3rd Cent. BCE. (60 mm tall x 55 mm wide). A miniature kantharos with a bell-shaped foot meeting a very tapered body that widens and then partially tapers again to form a lip. On either side, tall handles raise above the vessel from the lip, to then abruptly extend down to the body. On either side of the body, patterns are painted on. On the one face, two lines below a series of vertical lines. A single line forms the top separation. On the second face, an S shaped design with dots is bordered below with two lines. A single line on the top borders the design. Some lose of design on one side. Some wear from use to the painted surfaces. Otherwise intact. |
