KINGS of PERSIS. Vādfradād (Autophradates) I. 3rd century BC. AR Tetradrachm (30mm, 16.12 g, 9h). Istakhr (Persepolis) mint. Head right, with mustache and earring, wearing diadem and kyrbasia / Fire temple of Ahura-Mazda; above, half-figure of Ahura-Mazda; to left, Vādfradād standing right with crescent above; standard to right; wtprdt in Aramaic down inner right; prtrk’ zy in Aramaic in exergue; ’lhy’ in Aramaic up outer left; b in Aramaic down inner left. Cf. van't Haaff, Persis, Type 540/542. Toned with iridescence, areas of find patina, smoothing and tooling, tiny edge split. Good VF. Very rare variety with crescent engraved in reverse die.
