POTTERY. Magna Graecia. 6th-4th Cent. BCE. (75 mm tall x 110 mm wide). A cylindrical Blackware oil lamp with defined rounded foot that forms into a cylindrical squat body, topped by a concave lid with lip. The central area of the lid has 5 holes for filling the lamp and a raised lip surrounding to prevent spilling. The nozzle is a molded head of a lion, with a hole present at the mouth. A single loop style handle at 90 degrees to the right from the nozzle with attachment points on the lid of the piece. Some scratching and minor chips present. Some deposits. |
