POTTERY. Magna Graecia. Apulia. 6th-4th Cent. BCE. (100 mm tall x 155 mm wide). An Apulian Lekanis featuring a lid with a tall knob and extensive multichromatic painted glazing of ladies of fashion and rosettes. The bowl itself is of simple construct, a squat, flat bowl with inset edge to accept lid rests on a smaller foot with small stem. Two handles extend from either side. Patina on bowl present. Minor wear on glaze only. Intact. A charming example of the type. |
