POTTERY. Magna Graecia. Campania. 6th-4th Cent. BCE. (160 mm tall x 75 mm wide). A Blackware Lykanthos with a simple foot that slightly tapers to support a tall, oval body of the vessel. A small ridge separates the shoulder from the thin neck which extends into a trumpeted rim that flares into a rounded lip. A single handle extends from the neck to the edge of the shoulder. A simple etched design is etched on the body, a single vertical line to left, a vine pattern to right. Minor wear on foot. Neck/lip reattached. This piece has a wonderful glossy brown/black patina throughout. A very attractive piece. |
