OIL LAMP. Holyland. Roman. 2nd-4th Cent. CE. A molded oil lamp with tear shaped body that tapers at nozzle to one end. Two holes present, a large central hole mid lamp and one close to the end of the nozzle. Molded design covers the majority of the lamp’s lid, including two registers of vertical lines and circles surrounding the body, and border surrounding the nozzle. Handle present opposite of the nozzle with some loss at top. Base has molded pattern in circular border at foot with star of David at center . Some wear present. An attractive piece. |
