POTTERY. Magna Graecia. 6th-4th Cent. BCE. (55 mm tall x 180 mm wide). A squat, wide Lebes with a single handle extending from one side of the body. A flat bottom quickly is turned outward, almost to rival the shape of a dish only to sharply transition into a wide shoulder that terminates with a large opening. Polychromatic embellishments are present on the foot, the widest point of the body the handle, shoulder and lip. Glaze loss is extensive at points on the decoration of the bowl. Some surface cracks and light encrustation. Intact. |
