POTTERY. Magna Graecia. 6th-4th Cent. BCE. (160 mm wide x 55 mm tall). A skyphos with flat foot, wide, squat body and single handle with two supports on either side. The piece is glazed in polychromatic bands, several concentric circles decorate the lower portions of the body and again on the shoulder of the cup. A single zigzagged pattern present just under the rounded lip of the cup. Black highlights are also present on the handle and supports. Internally, the bottom of the cup has 3 concentric circles centrally placed. A black field covers the rest of the area. Some wear to glaze but intact and attractive. |
