POTTERY. Magna Graecia. 6th-4th Cent. BCE. (105 mm wide x 110 mm tall). A single handled Gnathian pitcher, with round foot, rounded body and wide neck terminating in a single rounded lip that is slightly trumpeted. On the neck, a running vine pattern surrounds the bottom two thirds of the portion of the vase. The top segment is a pattern of running V’s, bordered with single lines atop and below. Upper body glaze is vibrant and attractive. There is minor glaze loss to the black painted surfaces but this piece is quite attractive in hand. Intact. |
