Diocletian. AD 284-305. Antoninianus (21mm, 4.50 g, 6h). ‘C’ mint. Struck under Carausius, circa AD 286-circa 293. IMP C C VAL DIOCLETIANVS AVG, radiate and cuirassed bust right / PA X AVG, Pax standing left, holding olive branch and vertical scepter; S|P//C. RIC V –; Bourne 97 (same dies). Dark green patina, light roughness. Good VF. Extremely rare. Likely one of two known. The bust with features of a trabea though a cuirassed bust given the pteryges. A known feature of the London mint which is known to mix up features of the trabea and cuirass into the time of Constantine.
