Prussia took control of the Principality of Hohenzollern following the abdication of Prince Friedrich Wilhelm Constantin in 1849, following the unrest of the previous year. They issued a single coinage on the local gulden standard in 1852 before subsuming the principality into the rest of the Prussian monetary system.
