Commodus. AD 177-192. Æ Medallion (38.5mm, 52.35 g, 12h). Rome mint. Struck AD 184-185. Laureate and draped bust right / Commodus, veiled and togate, sacrificing over a tripod, accompanied by four robed citizens. On the left, two men, one of whom plays a double tibia, a young boy, and the victimarius preparing to sacrifice a bull; hexastyle temple in background. Gnecchi 168, pl. 89, 4 (same dies as illustration); MIR 18, 1110-2/34; Banti 504 (same dies as illustration). Dark brown patina, some pitting and corrosion, smoothing, tooling. VF. Rare.
