ROMAN IMPERIAL. Constantius I. As Caesar, AD 293-305. Gilt WM Electrotype Medal – Multiple (42.5mm, 23.89 g, 12h). Liberation of London. Electrotype of the now lost medal from the Arras Hoard, discovered in 1922. Made by Étienne Bourgey in Paris, circa 1929. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Constantius on horseback right, holding spear, approaching London kneeling in supplication before city gate; below, galley sailing right. Cf. P. Bastien, Le Tresor de Beaurains (dit d’Arras), 218 (for original). As made. Important historical type. Rare Bourgey original.
